Banyan Women X San Mateo County Library Collaboration
At Banyan, our mission is to provide wellness and healing support for as many women as possible.
With Mental Health Awareness Week right around the corner, we wanted to share our collaboration with San Mateo County Libraries throughout the month of May.
After initially hosting a variety of library events with San Mateo Libraries in celebration of Women’s History Month last year, we wanted to come back bigger and better in 2026.
So, what do we have planned?
Our Events With San Mateo County Libraries:
Over the span of May, we are hosting free, 60 minute restorative sessions centered in somatic breathwork and sound healing. These will be hosted across seven of San Mateo’s Country Libraries right through the month, including Mental Health Awareness Week.
These classes are designed to help release stress, regulate the nervous system, and allow participants to feel more grounded. The classes will be hosted by our fantastic practitioners in person for free.
Why Are We Doing This?
These classes are free, accessible ways to support those who can benefit from holistic support without feeling blocked by financial barriers.
The power of breathwork is one of the most accessible and effective tools to calm the nervous system, with no equipment needed. It can help calm the mind and reset the body even when we feel in fight or flight. Many of the people we support may not have a safe space to just be, or may just be reentering society. These sessions can help to allow these participants to feel safe, secure, and just be for a moment.
If you can’t make these events but still want to benefit from breathwork, you can read more about the power of breathwork here (link to breathwork blog).
Why San Mateo County Libraries?
Libraries remain one of the only places in modern day society that can be accessed for free, without the need to pay for a membership or a coffee in order to use the space.
All of our events in May are hosted for free within these library spaces in order to support those that need these spaces and our support the most.
We are honoured to be running this collaboration with San Mateo Country Libraries.
You can find all of our locations and dates for these classes here. We have classes available in English and also in Spanish, with different times and locations to reach as many people as possible.
At Banyan, we are committed to helping women worldwide with their wellness.
Because there shouldn’t be a barrier to well-being.
Love Always,
The Banyan Team
