Yoga nidra (yogic sleep) is the practice of lying on one’s back while allowing the consciousness to flow into a state of enlightened relaxation. We live in a time of constant busy-ness where creating a sense of peace and inner fortitude is last on the to-do list, yet should be a priority. You do not need any prior experience and it is perfect for anyone who’s struggled with quieting a monkey mind in meditation. All you need is somewhere quiet and comfortable to lie down. The benefits I, and many others, have received are: a deeper sense of peace, inner fortitude, better sleep, enhanced intuition, a sharper mind, and more energy.

Abhyanga is a rejuvenating full-body massage using warm herbalized oils. It’s one of the best ways to restore balance to our prana (life force energy), and is effective in stimulating and strengthening the lymphatic system, calming the nervous system, enhancing blood flow, strengthening the immune system, and so much more. In this class we’ll discuss the benefits of abhyanga and then dive into a guided how-to. Bring a towel to sit on, some warm oil, and wear clothes or a bathing suit that you wouldn’t mind getting oil on. Recommended oils: Coconut or sunflower oil are inherently cooling and a great choice during late spring, summer, and early fall as well as for those with more heat in their system. Sesame or almond oil are inherently warming and a great choice during late fall, winter, and early spring as well as for those with more coldness in their system.
